When it comes time to hire a private investigator, make sure the detective agency you choose provides plenty of value per dollar. Hiring an investigator can be pricey, but generally it is well worth the peace of mind to know the truth. Some things you want to look for are listed below.
Free Consultation: When you ask for a meeting to discuss your case, most detectives, like most lawyers will offer you a free consultation to discuss the best approach for your situation. They may even save you hundreds of dollars by advising a different approach!
Specialty Experience: Has this agency conducted similar investigations in the past? How frequently do they provide the service that you require? Most of the time you can find information regarding their services on a website or review site.
Communication: Just like a healthy relationship, communication is key to success here. Your investigator should be giving you updates throughout the case, sometimes daily depending on what they discover during the course of the investigation.
Legitimacy: Most investigators will have you fill out a legally-binding contract that protects both parties, assuring the investigation will be performed and services rendered are paid for. On top of that, every private investigator in Tennessee is required to carry a valid license. This ensures that all state requirements are met and you are hiring a serious professional.
Hopefully these tips will help you choose a professional investigator to take on your case. One thing to add however, we are real professionals who do this for a living, not TV actors. As much as we would like to, we cannot force a target to do anything. On that note, if nothing is going on during an investigation, generally we advise varying the surveillance schedule.
